Heard a loud explosion and the fans and AC turned off. This is our first 100 degree week, so not a good preview of what’s to come.

Thankfully, my AC died two days ago, so I was already taking measures to cool my house naturally. There’s been about a thirty degree differential between our day an night temps.

That’s my guess. I’m searching the news, but apparently these things blow up every few months here. Comforting...

But looks like you still have internet? The one day last week we had power but no internet was crazy (my wife and I are working remote and 4 kids trying to do remote school). Thankfully my parents are nearby.

No internet. Data from my cell. Thank 5g! Same deal working remotely with kids in school. I’m teaching at two different schools remotely, and am also in grad school. I have two research papers need to finish along with a presentation I have to give tomorrow and a final I need to study for on Friday, so hopefully they figure this out soon. I have lots of family nearby, but all our power is out.

What kind of speeds are you seeing with 5G? We don’t have any 5G devices, but I assume Houston has some 5G coverage.

Power just came back on! Looks to be more than 10x faster than my usual internet download speed and 15x faster upload. I have really shitty internet.

That is fast. I'm fortunate we have the option of fiber from AT&T, so our home internet is pretty fast. But that 5G is sweet!
